MyDiabetes

MyDiabetes Designed for the Pocket PC

  • I designed a version of this application for my personal use many years ago when I first discovered that I was a diabetic. I did a lot of traveling for my job, and I had to have a way to quickly register my readings. It was a crude format, yet it worked for my needs. All the time that I was using the application, I kept saying: Shoot, I need to record my Blood Pressure, my A1c, my Cholesterol, or I needed the ability to synchronize the PPC information to my desktop. I finally got off my butt ( actually I got on my butt ), and developed todays version of MyDiabetes. I hope that you will find it useful for your Diabetes needs.

These screenshoots are from my development PC, and in the PPC edition the menus are at the bottom and there is no toolbar available.

When you create a New record, paper icon, the date will automatically be populated for you. On each record you must fill in your Weight, Systolic BP, Diastolic BP & Pulse Rate. These fields are masked so you only enter the numbers. The Diastolic BP will hold up to 3 characters, however, your Diastolic BP should only be 2 digits hopefully. I would enter the reading as 085. For the weight you might enter 2156. Notice that I did not add the decimal as the field mask takes care of that for you. The results would for that input would be 215.6. These record items will travel with you no matter what screen that you are on. You only need to enter them once per day.

Fasting & Breakfast +2 ( 2 hours after meal ) have related fields for the time that the reading was taken, as well as your sugar reading. You may use the 24 hour clock or the 12 hour clock as you wish. I prefer the 12 hour clock so for 9:00 am on the Breakfast screen, I would enter 0900. The colon is masked in, and you will not be able to enter a colon. The resulting field value would be 09:00, and because it is on the Breakfast screen, I know that it is am.

Your Sugar reading allows for three characters. If you have a two digit reading, I would suggest entering it preceded by a 0 such as 098.

You have a special Comments area just for the Breakfast screen for anything of importance about your readings.

Once you move to the Lunch screen, your Weight, Systolic BP, Diastolic BP & Pulse Rate for this date are carried forward to this screen.

Lunch & Lunch +2 ( 2 hours after meal ) have related fields for the time that the reading was taken, as well as your sugar reading. You may use the 24 hour clock or the 12 hour clock as you wish. I prefer the 12 hour clock so for 1:00 pm on the Lunch screen, I would enter 0100. The colon is masked in, and you will not be able to enter a colon. The resulting field value would be 01:00, and because it is on the Lunch screen, I know that it is pm. You may prefer to use the 24 hour clock which would be 13:00 hours.

Your Sugar reading allows for three characters. If you have a two digit reading, I would suggest entering it preceded by a 0 such as 098.

You have a special Comments area just for the Lunch screen for anything of importance about your readings.

Once you move to the Supper screen, your Weight, Systolic BP, Diastolic BP & Pulse Rate for this date are carried forward to this screen.

Supper & Supper +2 ( 2 hours after meal ) have related fields for the time that the reading was taken, as well as your sugar reading. You may use the 24 hour clock or the 12 hour clock as you wish. I prefer the 12 hour clock so for 7:00 pm on the Supper screen, I would enter 0700. The colon is masked in, and you will not be able to enter a colon. The resulting field value would be 07:00, and because it is on the Supper screen, I know that it is pm. You may prefer to use the 24 hour clock which would be 19:00 hours.

Your Sugar reading allows for three characters. If you have a two digit reading, I would suggest entering it preceded by a 0 such as 098.

You have a special Comments area just for the Supper screen for anything of importance about your readings.

    MyDiabetes - Evening

Once you move to the Evening screen, your Weight, Systolic BP, Diastolic BP & Pulse Rate for this date are carried forward to this screen.

The Bedtime listing has related fields for the time that the reading was taken, as well as your sugar reading. You may use the 24 hour clock or the 12 hour clock as you wish. I prefer the 12 hour clock so for 10:00 pm on the Evening screen, I would enter 1000. The colon is masked in, and you will not be able to enter a colon. The resulting field value would be 10:00, and because it is on the Evening screen, I know that it is pm. You may prefer to use the 24 hour clock which would be 22:00 hours.

Your Sugar reading allows for three characters. If you have a two digit reading, I would suggest entering it preceded by a 0 such as 098.

You have a special Comments area just for the Lunch screen for anything of importance about your readings.

    MyDiabetes - Stats
    .
    MyDiabetes - Stats

Once you move to the Stats screen, your Weight, Systolic BP, Diastolic BP & Pulse Rate for this date are carried forward to this screen. However, the rest of the fields are not related to the record, but are stored in variables, and only hold your most recent readings for the labeled entities.

Your A1c reading and the date that it was taken on.

The rest of the readings are usually from the same blood test analysis, hence only one taken on date field for your Cholesterol, HDL, LDL & Triglycerides.

As all of these are varables and stored in the registry, they will be carried forward with each new record that you create. They are not, however, a perminent part of that record.
